I’m always looking to improve Lookupper, and I need your help to decide which new dictionaries to add. Share your ideas and help make the app even better!

How to Suggest a Dictionary:

  1. Language Pair or Dictionary Type:
Mention which languages you want (e.g., Thai - English, English Medical).
  2. Extra Details:
Any specific features you need? Maybe it's beginner-friendly, technical terms, or business vocabulary.
  3. Why You Need It:
Let me know why you need this dictionary and how you’ll use it. This helps to understand your needs better.

Example Suggestion:

Languages: Thai - English
Extra Details: I’m looking for something beginner-friendly with basic vocab and common phrases.
Why: I’m learning Thai for travel and want to chat with locals.

This thread will be ongoing, so feel free to drop your suggestions anytime.

Languages: English - Hebrew
Extra Details: Any standard dictionary should work. Audio of Hebrew would be a great benefit
Why: I’m learning Hebrew, but unfortunately there is no Hebrew translation of Disco Elysium. So I am using the English version and DeskTranslate utility to translate English to Hebrew. It would be great to have the Lookupper to help with the translation of specific words from English to Hebrew. Thank you!

I was able to find the Babylon and Vicon English-Hebrew dictionaries and will add them to Lookupper in the next version. Unfortunately, these dictionaries do not include audio pronunciations.

      creator Thank you!
Will the Pro version support Hebrew? It could use Google translate for audio

It depends on what you mean by “support Hebrew”: do you mean as a source language (OCR language) or as a translation target language (for translating to Hebrew)?

In the first case, Lookupper does not recognize Hebrew text on the screen because Windows OCR lacks a Hebrew OCR model, and creating a custom OCR model for Hebrew would be a challenging task.

In the second case, I could add Hebrew as a target language for Lookupper Dictionary and Translator.

By the way, the Pro version has the same language support as the free version. So there is no reason to buy the Pro version in your case, because when I release the new version, you will be able to install English-Hebrew dictionaries on the free version.

Hebrew as a target language would be interesting. Please add that

Direct lookups from Wiktionary in the relevant language and English would be great.

Yes, I can do this. Could you please specify why you prefer Wiktionary over other offline dictionaries?

Do you mean English to Thai or Thai to English?

Hi! Could you add an Italian to English dictionary?

BananFish Sure, I plan to add more Italian-English dictionaries in the next release. You can track the progress in the Upcoming Update discussion.

Hello, thanks for your work. Could you add a Japanese to English dictionary?

state9981 Sure, I’ll add a Japanese-English dictionary once I finish working on the Japanese tokenizer.

Hello, can you please add an English-Indonesian dictionary, with Audio if possible. I want to play Disco Elysium but my English is not very fluent, I want to enjoy the game while learning English, Thank you 🙂

Farel Sure, I’ve found some English-Indonesian dictionaries and will include them in the next minor Lookupper update. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any English-Indonesian dictionary with audio, but you can listen to audio from the Oxford English Advanced Learner’s Dictionary or the Lookupper dictionary.
