Lookupper 1.7.3 Released (2 March 2026)

The Definitions dictionary has been replaced with Looktionary Pro, which is awesome. It includes: the word, dictionary form, definition, transcription (IPA), transliteration, word translation, synonyms, word level (CEFR), part-by-part explanation, and context of use. Additionally, Looktionary Pro provides much higher quality definitions (though slightly slower) than its predecessor.
The Translation dictionary is now replaced by Translator Pro, which uses AI with a large number of parameters, improving the translation and understanding even the newest released games.
Fixed the Lookupper slowdown issue when a game consumed all GPU resources, leaving nothing for Lookupper.
Added a rating widget (5 stars) in the "About" section so you can easily rate right from Lookupper.
Fixed an issue where some users had matching computer IDs, which resulted in the limit being exhausted even if the program hadn't been used for over 24 hours.
Improved the interface for adding offline dictionaries.
Fixed icons on Windows 10.
The lookup window will now be larger on big screens.
The lookup window position will no longer jump around the screen.
Lookupper now more accurately detects paragraph boundaries.
Lots of minor stylistic changes.

Added the screen translator feature you really wanted. It replaces text on the screen with its translation. Works like magic, give it a try.
Added switching between translator and dictionary modes. To use dictionary mode when the screen translator is active, simply hold the Alt key during translation.
Added missing fields from Looktionary Pro to saved words. These fields are now also exported to Anki.
The bookmark icon for saving words is now more visible and has changed its position.
The lookup window is now moved by dragging the title bar, rather than the highlighted word.
Game profiles have been moved to settings.
Added warnings when attempting to stretch or pause a game running as administrator while Lookupper is not.
Lookupper will no longer lag when ABBYY Lingvo (and other similar programs that inject themselves into other processes) is enabled.
Fixed Lookupper server search in situations where the user turns off their VPN.
Numerous stylistic changes, added missing localizations, and improved existing ones.

Lookupper 1.8.1 Released (31 March 2026)

Lookupper will now warn you if an antivirus blocks its network access.
Old translation results no longer close when you translate a new block of text.
Text recognition via the LookupperOCR engine is now slightly faster.
Fixed a bug with WindowsOCR where lines could randomly swap places during recognition.
Improved context capture — the algorithm will no longer inappropriately split whole paragraphs.
If you translate very small text, the translation result will automatically be displayed larger.

Lookupper 1.8.2 Released (26 May 2026)

Fixed an issue where the translation text appeared in a dark font on a dark background, making it nearly invisible.
Fixed a bug where a single stalled offline dictionary (unable to fetch data) would cause all other dictionaries to hang. Additionally, resolved a memory leak within the offline dictionaries.
Display word difficulty (CEFR level) in the Words tab next to each word. You can also now search for words by their CEFR level.
Added a "Screen Freezing" toggle in the settings so you can optionally disable screen freezing.
Now you can listen to Looktionary audio pronunciations by pressing the (P) key.

Fixed a bug where changes to fields of saved words were not saved in some cases.

Hold Ctrl and click words in Dictionary Mode to select several at
once — great for phrases and expressions, as well as for Asian
languages.

You can now save a word by pressing the S key, not just by
clicking the bookmark icon.

Lookupper 1.8.6 Released (24 July 2026)

You can now add your own GoldenDict-compatible dictionaries to Lookupper: StarDict, ABBYY Lingvo (.dsl), MDict (.mdx), Babylon (.bgl), Aard 2 (.slob), and ZIM.
You can now resize the text in the lookup popup with CTRL + mouse wheel, as well as resize the popup window itself.
Looktionary can now be set to automatically play the word's audio pronunciation when it opens.
Fixed display issues in Windows High Contrast mode.
Many other performance improvements and bug fixes.

Lookupper 1.8.9 Released (4 August 2026)

Better recognition accuracy and fewer OCR hallucinations: HUD counters, symbols and stray single letters are no longer picked up as words.
Fixed the mouse cursor being locked when using Lookupper with some games (Outer Wilds, Watch Dogs 2 and others).
Fixed reversed word order in right-to-left languages (Arabic, Hebrew, etc.).
Fixed saved word screenshots sometimes not being deleted from disk.
