Lookupper 1.6.1 Released (16 December 2025)

The Lookupper hotkey now works in games launched with administrator privileges (for example, Where Winds Meet and Wuthering Waves). Previously, in version 1.6.0, Lookupper also had to be run as administrator for the hotkey to work in such games. This is not required anymore.
Missing localizations have been added, and Russian localization issues have been fixed.
Export settings (path and audio pronunciation checkboxes) are now saved.
Fixed rare crashes when opening the tray icon, exiting the app, editing cards, and when no OCR language is installed on the system.
For Pro users, audio pronunciations for Definitions will no longer be automatically disabled on each app launch—the checkboxes are now preserved.

Lookupper 1.6.2 Released (21 December 2025)

Lookupper now works correctly again on multi-monitor setups.
Fixed an issue where some screen areas were inaccessible when monitors used different scaling and resolutions. Also removed annoying flickering when switching between monitors.
Fixed Anki export freezing the UI. The interface no longer hangs during export, and the current stage is now displayed (card creation, audio pronunciation generation, media file copying).
Fixed a bug where Anki export still included audio files even when the option was unchecked.
Fixed an issue where Anki export failed if at least one field contained a single quote.
Card fields can now be copied in card view mode.

Lookupper 1.6.3 Released (29 December 2025)

Now, Lookupper shows lookups on top of other windows after Windows autostart, exactly as it should.

Also, the program doesn't "warm up" the OCR engine at the start anymore. The first lookup will take a bit more time because of this. But, if you don't use it, Lookupper takes only 36 MB of RAM and just waits until it is needed. So, you can leave it in the background all the time..

Lookupper 1.7.0 Released (27 January 2026)

1.7.0 - A major update for Lookupper, aimed at improving on-screen text recognition.

Changelog:

Added a new engine, LookupperOCR. Enabled in settings, it recognizes text with stylized fonts on non-uniform backgrounds (common in games) with stunning accuracy. LookupperOCR can even recognize tilted text.
The screen image now "freezes" the moment the hotkey is pressed. This solves the issue where in-game text has already changed while the translation was still showing the previous frame.
The lookup window is now dynamic: it adapts to the monitor size and automatically shrinks if there is little content (e.g., when only the translator is active).
Added search for saved words: search by word, translation, filename, and window title.
Optimization: The OCR engine now unloads from memory after 15 minutes of inactivity to save resources.
Fixed scaling issues on monitors with different DPI and double word selection bugs.
Network issues resolved: if the main server is unavailable (due to blocking), the program will find a backup route.
It is no longer possible to launch two instances of Lookupper simultaneously to prevent hotkey conflicts.

Lookupper 1.7.1 Released (4 February 2026)

The default hotkey in Lookupper is now Alt+Q. As verified by many users, this is a much more trouble-free hotkey than Ctrl+D regarding conflicts with games.
Improved LookupperOCR recognition and slightly increased speed. Fixed an issue where OCR clipped the tails of the English letters 'y' and 'g'.
LookupperOCR now recognizes vertical text (as in Japanese and Chinese).
Reduced phantom characters detected by LookupperOCR in empty areas by 90%.
Word context selection is now more accurate; the total amount of context selected with the word has been increased.
Fixed micro-stutters when switching OCR engines and OCR languages.
Word lookup on non-primary monitors is now significantly faster (for multi-monitor users).
Fixed multiple crashes caused by various reasons.
The menu opened via the gamepad icon will now explicitly explain what each setting is for, so you know what to use where and in which game.
Game profiles will now work even if the game is launched as Administrator and Lookupper is not.
Fixed stuck keys when using auto-pause in games.
Fixed duplicate languages in the saved words filter.
Added a new menu to the tray icon for quick access to Lookupper sections.
Fixed the lookup window "jumping" from bottom to top when resizing.
Fixed incorrect display of the Autostart switch during onboarding.
Looking up words is now even more pleasant: added animations, rounded corners, and other visual eye candy.
Now, if you have a mouse hotkey enabled, the cursor will not periodically micro-freeze while Lookupper is running.

Fixed an issue where some games reacted to clicks inside the lookup window.

Lookupper 1.7.3 Released (2 March 2026)

The Definitions dictionary has been replaced with Looktionary Pro, which is awesome. It includes: the word, dictionary form, definition, transcription (IPA), transliteration, word translation, synonyms, word level (CEFR), part-by-part explanation, and context of use. Additionally, Looktionary Pro provides much higher quality definitions (though slightly slower) than its predecessor.
The Translation dictionary is now replaced by Translator Pro, which uses AI with a large number of parameters, improving the translation and understanding even the newest released games.
Fixed the Lookupper slowdown issue when a game consumed all GPU resources, leaving nothing for Lookupper.
Added a rating widget (5 stars) in the "About" section so you can easily rate right from Lookupper.
Fixed an issue where some users had matching computer IDs, which resulted in the limit being exhausted even if the program hadn't been used for over 24 hours.
Improved the interface for adding offline dictionaries.
Fixed icons on Windows 10.
The lookup window will now be larger on big screens.
The lookup window position will no longer jump around the screen.
Lookupper now more accurately detects paragraph boundaries.
Lots of minor stylistic changes.
