Hi! Great question — thanks for raising it.
Good news on the local models side: in the upcoming 2.0 release you'll be able to install Google's Gemma 4B translation model directly inside Lookupper and run it locally on your own machine — no Pro required, no internet needed. Right now in 1.8.9.0, translation only goes through Lookupper's built-in AI translator with a usage limit, so this will be a big step forward for anyone who wants everything running on their own computer.
As for connecting your own AI agents or custom API keys and local model backends — that's not on the roadmap at the moment. Lookupper's philosophy is to stay a simple tool for a wide audience: most of users don't run local models and don't work with API keys, so our focus is on making the powerful stuff work out of the box with zero setup. That may change down the road, but for now built-in and effortless is the direction we're taking.
